I'm in an NPR promo video!
I'm the guy hand that comes from the right and draws the app menu, and later changes the thought bubble into a word bubble, and later writes the @NPRandroid at the end.
You can read about the making of the video on the blog director John Pavlus of Small Mammal. There you can also see a photo of our in-between-takes whiteboard doodles, including my scribble likeness of John himself. I'm not even sure he know's it's supposed to be him.
It was load of fun to be a part of the shoot along with Heather Willems of Image Think, who has plenty more whiteboard experience than I. I also met several other awesome artist type peoples who "build" the polished app in the vid, all of whom are listed in the NPR blog.

Weirdfolio o'Ten
^ Heez duh middul wun.
Getting freaky and surreal in illustrator tonight. This drawing is very similar to something you might find in my sketchbook, where, of course, my thought stream out with less inhibition. I had a similar image drawn on my messenger bag that I totally forgot about until Laura pointed it out to me the other day. Since then I've been redrawing it sporadically when my mind goes blank but my pencil is still moving. So most likely, won't be the last middul wun.
I also rew something else interesting that I think I'll save for later, perhaps as a T-shirt design.

Happy ♥ Day
This is part of the Card I gave to my sweetheart. Did the whole thing in Prismacolors, which tend to be tend to be my favorite analog medium for doing color. I was also impressed by the bristol board I drew on too. Nothing bled through at all and I got pretty saturated in same parts.
Anyway, enjoy Valentines' Day, and with whomever you celebrate it!

Gina!
I just wanted to draw my dog, Gina, and share it with you all. She's hairless on her belly so she has to wear sweaters and coats all winter, which make her look awfully cute. However, looks can be deceiving. She's quite mean to strangers. Thus she must accessorize with a barking spray collar. Maybe soon she'll be able to take a compliment.

This weekend was inky!
Whipped out the ol' pen nib and ink this weekend. Never could have done it if not for combining supplies with Laura. It was a team effort between her lone pen-nib and my only nib-holder, her one bottle of sumi ink and my last bristol board pad.
Anyway here's a sketch I did while dipping my toes into the inkwell. It's the character I'm slowly starting to call Noodle Bear. Feels as soon as I start to do some hatching with a nib I start to feel like I'm channeling Herriman. I could only wish.
Incedentally, there is a great article in The Believer (Nov/Dec 2009 issue) on Morrie Turner that covers some of the satire racial relations infused into Krazy Kat.
